St. Patty's day visit with my siblings...

Both of my siblings and their spouses came to visit a couple weekends ago for my mom's birthday. Good times and good food:
Shelby and Harding snuggling with Burney

Harding doing some tree climbing at the Arboretum

Riley and her BeBe

Isn't my niece gorgeous?

Papa being silly with his granddaughters

Harding taking Shelbs down the slide

sister's going to walk one of these days....

We had a joint OT/PT session on Wednesday. I love these....it is great watching Beth and Adam collaborate, and I feel like something really good always happens at these sessions. There is still work to do, but Shelby is getting closer to walking and it is a beautiful thing to see.

Pretty exciting, huh? We're going to the orthotist to get Shelby fitted for new A.F.O.s this afternoon. I can't help but think that these will be the braces that she learns to walk in.

Hello March and we're still here...

Well, well....here we are in the middle of March. I didn't mean to take a vacation from this blog, but it seemed to be one of the few things that I could let fall through the cracks in what has been an incredibly busy month (although to be honest, our house has suffered as well). I'll try not to ramble too much in this update.

Shelby has had her cast off for a couple weeks now, and she continues to blow us all away with lefty. The whole 4-week round of constraint therapy was exhausting, but so worth it...she made an incredible amount of progress.
The post-cast period has been stressful for me as a mom, because I've felt a lot of pressure to work with Shelby constantly so that she won't lose all the skills that she has gained with lefty (and I've felt some guilt about not being able to work with her enough). But as you can see below, Shelby has her own way of telling me to relax (the little show-off).

You might have also noticed that Shelby got glasses. They must be helping because, for the most part, she has kept them on her face.
It has continued to be a warm winter, so we've been spending every spare second outside. Harding loves riding his bike and it is fun watching him do it. We've gone to the French Broad River Greenway a lot the past couple weeks.

The Gillilands joined us yesterday and I couldn't resist taking a picture of the kids in front of this Asheville graffiti. Julie measured how far we went, and the kids rode two and a half miles on their bikes... Shelby was strapped to my back as we chased after the kids and kept saying, "pedal pedal pedal".

Shelby has become so silly recently--she is constantly having fits of giggles. When she gets going with one of these fits, it goes on for awhile and the laughter is contagious. These happy fits are a pleasant change, because she throws her fair share of tantrums too.

Other notable happenings this past month included a trip to see the Daytona 500 for Trip and a weekend women's church retreat for me. The warm winter has spoiled us and we can't wait for spring...luckily it will be here soon. The weather is supposed to be in the 70's this week...bring it on!
