Like we have mentioned, this week and next week are big ones for Shelby. This week Shelby Frances had an EEG, sedated MRI, and then visited her neurologist. Probably for the first time ever, I feel like we got all good news.
The greatest news of all was that Shelby had her best EEG yet. If you remember, her first EEG's showed seizure activities, epileptiform discharges, and intermittent slowing of her brain waves. However, her EEG's have been getting better, and the neurologist told us this one looked normal. Normal! He did not see any of those problems. I honestly could not believe it. He feels like the Keppra is doing it's job, and that Shelby is not having seizures!
Also, Shelby's MRI looked good. There is definitely noticeable damage in the right side, but even that side looks SO much better than it did right after birth. Also, the left side looks almost normal. It will be interesting to see what the neurosurgeon says next week, but we could tell our neurologist was excited about all this news.
Next week we see Shelby's pediatrician and neurosurgeon (wow she has a lot of doctors), so we will post more then.
